A Fascinating History

Located within Caister-on-Sea windswept charm, Castle Carvery occupies a building steeped in history. Its walls once formed part of Caister Castle’s medieval courtyards, sir John Fastolf’s 15th-century marvel whose soaring brick tower still shelters nearby. That same fortress, besieged by the Duke of Norfolk in 1469 and later held by the Paston family, quietly shapes the spirit of the place  . Over centuries, the castle fell into gentle ruin, evolving into a gracious gathering spot. Today, families flood through its doors, drawn by the castle’s legacy and the promise of a warming roast served with seaside charm, a narrative etched in stone and shared across tables.

Caister On Sea Norfolk

Caister-on-Sea is a charming coastal village with golden sands, gentle dunes, and a soft sea breeze that feels like a quiet embrace. Just north of Great Yarmouth, it’s a place where families paddle, dogs dash along the shore, and the world slows down a little. Its history is rich, home to a Roman fort and the striking ruins of Caister Castle, once owned by Sir John Fastolf. The surrounding Norfolk landscape is a patchwork of broads, marshes, and sleepy lanes, perfect for slow, scenic drives or waterside walks. It’s all so wonderfully peaceful, unfussy, welcoming, and brimming with the simple joys of English seaside life
